As good as the first, if not better. The writing is impeccable and draws you in right from the first, and the characters are portrayed beautifully. Some of the action scenes will make you feel as if you're in a movie theater with surround sound, they're written so well. Starting immediately after the first one left off, it continues to unravel the mystery of Erik's power, and delves deeper into the stories of some of the other characters, including the villains', giving a not-so-black-and-white picture of both sides; something not many books are prone to do, and making one question what the nature of 'evil' truly is. As with the first, you might not wish this book to end, that you may continue immersing yourself in this world forever.Product details

Again a perfectly good book is ruined by bad grammar. Horses don't bay like one in the story was supposed to. Maybe it's just bad editing but I doubt if I`'ll buy the next book.
I am looking forward to seeing how the author brings a positive and realistic conclusion in the next book ( if it is a conclusion or a next step in the growth of the main character .... Eric!! I also like the description and the power of the women in these books!!!
The bad guy is truly evil in this book. The plot continues on with several twists making for an exciting read.
I would have never guessed over 200 pages all about Senate plot and building the story. Not much happens. Little excitement here and there but that about it. Mostly boring nicely detailed plot building lol.
I really enjoyed reading this book! Character development was really good. Action/battle scenes were described so that I felt like I was actually there fighting along side with the characters. I love the the series!
As soon as I finished reading the book, I would automatically buy the next book. ☺
This was an excellent book. I don't retread books, especially sequels, but I did this one. The author is undoubtedly improving his style with every book and he weaves an excellent story that is unique in this genre. He draws a reader into his narrative and he spins a story that had me desiring to read more. While I was disappointed where he left the story off, mainly because I invested into the story line, he left me wanting. This, of course, is a good thing. I look forward to the next installment of this great series. I highly recommend this book.
Ferguson's second book in the series picks up where the first left off, with intrigue and mystery. A young man attempts to understand and control a power others much older and wiser than him do not understand all while a kingdom is nearing a civil war. The lands face dangers from within and from outside forces. Ferguson does a wonderful job of describing a world of magic while not bogging down the adventures of our protagonist. You can picture the cities, lands and battles all through his captivating writing. His characters are full bodied and believable, each with their own faults and histories. Altogether I can't wait for the next book.
